Local Government at Work in Norway

I had the great fortune to travel to three cities in Norway last month with my husband and our friends. While the scenery was breathtaking, local government nerds can’t help taking pictures of infrastructure.

VeryKate in front of Oslo City Hall.
Do they hold the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo City Hall? Yes they do.
59 Oslo City Councilors!
Viva Les toilettes! Revolutionary public bathrooms in Oslo.
My fellow Massachusetts readers will be surprised that this Boston City Hall doppelganger is the City Hall in Stavanger.
Utility covers can be whimsical!
Repurposed infrastructure – telephone booths are little lending libraries in Bergen. It’s not clear what Jen is emphasizing – the transition from phone to book?.
The chains keep out some animals, deter waste blowing around, and make the bin easier to empty (staff don’t have to take off/put on the top.)
